BACKGROUND
After a period of time trying to make a new large game which would be even more technically impressive than Lost Archives, I decided to step back and gain insight from creating smaller, simpler games. I thought there might be ways for the user to have fun playing a game that did not require constantly improving rag dolls or intricate menu system which I would be blind to by focusing on bigger, but not necessarily better, things.
Additionally, I wanted to see if I could make my own game engine. If not entirely from scratch, then by using a little bit of middleware and nothing more. If I tried to make the largest game I have ever imagined, it would have been exhausting to make a game engine alongside it.
These requirements resulted in the Fenrir Engine and the first game to be completed for it, ITCR. Its gameplay resembles a shooter from the 1980's; you fly around and shoot things, but try to avoid getting shot back because you lose a life if you touch a bullet even once.
Interestingly enough, ITCR is not actually complete. "Battlegrounds" were never added to the game in favor of making progress on ETCR.
