BACKGROUND
My previous game, Horizonless, failed in terms of popularity and earnings. Although I enjoyed making it and I still enjoy playing it, it is clear nobody else shares that sentiment. This was valuable information. The next game I planned to release was going to be an MMO, where players were required to interact with each other to progress in the game. If that MMO received the same amount of players in the same amount of time, they would have rightfully gotten bored of the empty world and left.
So I changed my focus to making games that would attract other players and give me a reputation. This is where SOTW: Conquerors comes in. It was designed to attract new players and ended up exceeding expectations! Not only did it receive more than 150 times as many plays as Horizonless did its first month of release, but it was also received well enough that it won Kongregate's weekly competition the week it was released!

FEATURES
- Player controls a virtual country that automatically gathers resources - even when the player is not playing
- Player can attack other countries and defend themselves from attacks with a large enough military
- Progress made throughout the game can be abandoned to receive permanent boosts such as a stronger military or faster resource gathering
- Story connected to various upgrades in the game help break up the monotony of repeatedly upgrading an item
